Celebrity looks with sweatshirts at important events

Important ceremonies such as the Golden Globes, the red carpet, the London Film Festival, CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund 2016, is where some of the celebrities have shown that wearing a sweatshirt, does not have to be sporty, but if you know how to wear it well, it can complement you very well and give a different, comfortable, and elegant touch.

One example is The Golden Globes 2021 which was a very different awards ceremony than what we are used to due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Instead of a big ceremony with a red carpet and a crowd of celebrities, the ceremony was virtual and each of the participants joined from their homes. Due to the informal nature of the event, many opted for a comfortable look, such as pajamas, t-shirts or sweatshirts. Here are some sweatshirt looks that stood out at the Golden Globes 2021:

Jason Sudeikis: One of the most talked about looks of the night was that of actor and comedian Jason Sudeikis, who joined the virtual ceremony from home in a tye dye sweatshirt. While on other red carpets the 45-year-old actor has typically sported classic, minimalist outfits, this event was the perfect excuse to lean on a comfortable look as he was one of the witnesses at the 78th gala. A style that has solidified during his forties and continues to be a favorite among fashionistas and his own… a style that is no longer just for casual occasions, but also for the big moments, as reflected by Jason. Jason’s outfit marked the before and after of the pandemic and the red carpet, and most gave him credit for showing his casual, relaxed and quite cool attitude… and also for proving that the tye effect was is a constant trend, and for all tastes, styles, age or even gender.

Another example is at the London Film Festival, where Timothee Chalamet chose to wear a black sweatshirt and glitter highlighting his outfit.
Timothee Chalamet: This may seem casual, but it is not. Timothee Chalamet, already known as the modern playboy of Generation Z, has shown that even the most urban styles can have a place on the red carpet. It happened in London, at the festival premiere of his latest film, The King. The young actor, who rose to fame with his role in Call Me By Your Name and enamored the fashion world with his wardrobe choices for the red carpet, showed up this time with a sweatshirt that might be the only event where a T-shirt with these features is acceptable. This Virgil Abloh signature sweatshirt has a hood, front pockets and is covered in shiny black sequins. She paired a special Louis Vuitton sweatshirt with the brand’s black pants and patent leather dress shoes.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s daughter, Shiloh, dared to wear a sweatshirt as an ensemble, on the red carpet in her own style:
Shiloh Jolie-Pitt: Not only does she prove she’s a fashionista in the making…but her style shines with her versatility. After making an impact by showing off her revamped closet, the teenager has become one of the most anticipated figures on the red carpet, embodying her sophisticated and creative taste, such as a recent event she attended with her mother, Angelina Jolie, and brother, Pax Jolie. -Pitt. His stamp and taste is embodied in a short sweatshirt, paired with ripped jeans and baby blue sneakers from Converse. The details that made the difference? The studs on her sweatshirt added an original, daring and very innovative touch to this apparently minimalist (and somewhat simple) sporty and chic outfit, but which stood out thanks to this print on each sleeve.

Dree Hemingway: The actress and model, who went for an NBA sweatshirt look, at CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund 2016 , combining it with a long skirt, and a black clutch bag. Basic but standout.

Although the sweatshirt look is not what is normally expected at an awards ceremony like the Golden Globes, or the red carpet, or at CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund 2016, its inclusion was a reflection of the casual nature of all events. It also proves that fashion can be comfortable and stylish at the same time. The sweatshirt trend has become increasingly popular over the past few years and is expected to continue to grow in popularity in the near future
